A five-day workshop targeting officials in the justice sector, law enforcement, social services and other stakeholders takes place on Monday, to sharpen their skills and the understanding of case management in relation to juvenile offenders.
This training will also aim to build capacity in working with juveniles.
The workshop is a collaborative effort between the Caribbean Community Secretariat which spearheads the Crime and Violence Prevention and Social Development Project which is under the auspices of 10th EDF CARIFORUM Crime and Security Cooperation Program.
Consultant in the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs, Family and Gender Affairs, Martin Anthony, says this workshop is timely.
Emphasis will be placed on areas such as principles and standards when working with juveniles, restorative justice philosophy, the mediation process, management and consequences of youth behavior and intervention and sanctions.
Local counterparts for this upcoming workshop are the Ministry of Justice, Immigration and National Security and Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs, Family and Gender Affairs.
