Sobers Esprit one of the founders of the World Creole Music Festival is calling for greater emphasis on Dominican music during the festival.
Speaking ahead of the WCMF, Esprit says it is time to reimagine the value the festival can bring to local musicians on a global scale.
He noted, while international artists have economic value, interest in building a repertoire of local music must be stimulated in upcoming musicians.
Sobers says it is time to develop new focus in music education and build spaces to allow the island’s music to flourish.
