WAWU in discussions with LIAT on possible layoffs of staff in light of COVID-19
The Waterfront and Allied Workers Union is in discussions with the regional carrier LIAT on possible layoffs of staff in light of the COVID-19 pandemic.
LIAT’s operations have been impacted as several territories shut their borders in the past two weeks in attempts to ward off the fast-spreading Covid-19.
Secretary Treasurer of the Waterfront and Allied Workers Union Kertiste Augustus told state radio on Thursday his union will participate in talks with LIAT and regional financial institutions to help soften the impact.
