The University of the West Indies is celebrating 75 years of existence and service to the Dominican community.
The Celebrations began with the observance of UWI day on January 7th in commemoration of the first university council meeting held on that date, 1n 1947.
Head of UWI open Campus Dominica Dr. Kimone Joseph says that was established with a proclamation to all the heads of state that form part of the University’s Alumni signed by the Honorable Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit acknowledging January 7th as UWI day.
Dr. Joseph says there are a host of activities planned throughout the upcoming year which will include a panel, tree planting ceremonies and other activities organized by the respective field and alumni chapters discussion which promises to be a great time of jubilation for the institution.
She believes that the UWI has had tremendous influence and impact on the lives of our people within the member territories and though rooted in the region being an indigenous institution, reaches all time, ages and spaces
