Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has announced that US investors will meet with Wesley residents in August to discuss the construction of an international airport in the area.
Mr. Skerrit visited Wesley on Wednesday along with several cabinet members and the DLP candidate for the Wesley Constituency Fidel Grant.
A local committee has been formed in Wesley with interest in the airport construction. The Prime Minister says he met with the self- appointed committee of property owners who will be affected by the construction of the international airport.
He commended the members for their initiative. “I always… understand that the acquisition of people’s private property is a very sensitive matter, and this is why we’re being very careful with how we approach acquisition of properties across Dominica,” He said.
According to Mr. Skerrit, the plan is to engage members of the community and committee in discourse as works are ongoing.
