The issue of child and adolescent development will take center stage as practitioners who work with children and adolescents gather for a two day workshop which gets under way today at the Public Service Union Building.
Consultant with the Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs, Family and Gender Affairs Martin Anthony says the workshop will address such areas as understanding adolescent development, the benefits and challenges of youth engagement and also youth development programming.
Importantly practitioners in attendance will better understand the brain outline from Cells to Behavior and Cognition. This will help practitioners to better understand the young people with which they are engaged on a daily basis and steps which could be taken to assist them in various ways.
The facilitator for the workshop is Mr. Hanif Benjamin, who is a Clinical Therapist & Clinical Traumatologist and also Consultant with the OECS Juvenile Justice Reform Programme( JJRP).
The Ministry of Ecclesiastical Affairs, Family and Gender Affairs and the JJRP have jointly planned the two day workshop.
