Trade Minister Says New Agriculture Complex From Chinese Government Will Safeguard The Future Of Dominica’s Food Industry

Trade Minister Ian Douglas says the ground-breaking of a new agricultural complex in the North of the island should be seen as one of the pillars for a statement made by Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit of transforming Dominica’s agricultural industry and for achieving 700 million dollars from agriculture by the year 2030

He says One Mile in Portsmouth has always had a tradition of agricultural development dating back several years and this news added initiative is taking Dominica to the next level in the area of research and developed in agriculture.

Douglas says research and development are key in helping Dominica reach its target by 2030

Mr. Douglas says this facticity will help Dominica face the challenges posed by the food industry and come up with solutions not only to banana production but several long and short term crops

The trade Minister says China has created a positive impact on Dominica particularly in the area of agriculture at a time when food security has become a major concern throughout the world, therefore we ought to be thankful for China’s generosity.
