Tourism stakeholders have been encouraged to improve their offerings to increase competitiveness within the sector.
Minister for Tourism and Culture Robert Tonge told the Annual General Meeting of the Dominica Hotel and Tourism Association this week, stakeholders needed to develop an attitude of excellence to take advantage of new opportunities within the tourism industry.
“I want to exhort all Tourism Stakeholders to continue to consider how you can collectively make a greater mark on your return on investment,” he said, further highlighting that quality and consistency are needed in order to transform the Tourism Sector.
Tonge also says plans are in place to establish a Hospitality Institute in Dominica.
He says Government has contacted schools in the Caribbean and developed a committee for the establishment of the institute. According to Tonge, this promises to address the skills deficiency in the Tourism sector.
