The Achievement Learning Center ALC, a school for children with special learning needs, is moving ahead in its quest to provide educational and vocational skills for children with disabilities such as autism, down syndrome and ADHD, as there are different types of disabilities.
According to Executive Director of the ALC Beverley Leblanc, at the center, children are assessed and are introduced to programs based on to their levels of comprehension determined by their developmental age and not chronological.
Miss Leblanc says further that the children’s learning is not assessed through exams but by what is referred to a zonal Proxima development which involves input from their parents.
