Telecommunications & ICT in Disaster Mitigation Focus in Recovery Efforts
Director of Telecoms Bennet Thomas says the devastating impact of Hurricane Maria on the socio-economic life of Dominica has left us with many lessons to be learnt and that there are greater opportunities and avenues of both expanding and enhancing the telecommunications infrastructure of Dominica.
He says it’s now obvious that telecommunications and the role of ICT in disaster mitigation take center-stage in the recovery efforts as we seek to build Dominica better and stronger.
Mr. Thomas says in Dominica’s quest to be the first climate resilient country in the world, every sector of the economy must think and act resilience.
Mr. Thomas is therefore challenging the telecommunications providers here to assist the Dominican people in being at the top of technology during disasters.
