Students urged to engage in building and construction programs.

Civil engineer Felix Thomas believes more persons should be engaged in the building and construction industry in Dominica.

Thomas says too many young people are looking forward to the days when they can wear jackets and ties and be employed in High institutions when in fact the country needs more skilled young men and women.

He told the building and construction program ‘Make the right Connection’ on KairiFM Monday that Dr. Donald Peter’s advice to have more students engaged in building and construction programs at the Dominica State College should not fall on deaf ears.

He says these persons can arrest the opportunity to attend such classes in the evenings as adult education classes.

Thomas says it cannot be the academic route all the time as some persons are very skilled in the technical scheme of things.

He says the technical and vocational skills are very important and the significance of such skills are showing up even greater following hurricane Maria.
