Public Service Union Will Host Rally on Issues With Public Servants Employment

Public officers will address a number of outstanding issues about their employment at a rally early next month.

General Secretary of the Dominica Public Service Union, Thomas Letang says members will be updated on the status of ongoing negotiations with Government.

The Dominica Public Service Union will host the rally to bring to the fore several concerns of its membership regarding salary and non-salary matters.

“In addition to that we have other institutions like solid waste for example where salaries are not being paid and discover dominica who we have made a claim for recognition that is not being addressed. So we believe that we just need to bring all these people together at a rally we need to sensitize them, we need to get the public aware of what our problems are so we are inviting the public to come to this rally also. There the members can decide on a way forward.”

Letang says the Union is also concerned about unsatisfactory working conditions.

“We have mould infestation in a lot of areas we still have buildings that are unfit and all these things are supposed to be addressed. that will also include looking at the nurses issues, we had a few meetings some time ago, nothing much have happened and we really have to put our support behind the nurses… At that rally we will be showing solidarity with the nurses.”
