Prime Minister, Roosevelt Skerrit met with a group of computer programmers and software developers on Saturday, February 19, to discuss opportunities in the Digital Economy.
The meeting, held at the Jungle Bay Resort in Soufriere, focused on Dominica’s Digital Economy agenda and how citizens can benefit from available funding, training and assistance to develop ideas in digital innovation.
This comes as part of the National Digital Transformation Strategy, led by the Government of Dominica in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, as Dominica embarks on a journey which leverages the power of technology to create jobs, improve services, catalyze post-COVID-19 recovery, and catapult the country towards its goal of becoming the first climate resilient nation in world.
Applauding the group on their enthusiasm for building a digital economy, Prime Minister Skerrit this project signifies government’s commitment to young people as they create a more dynamic Dominica.
He says, this consultation is the first of many which will take place to engage young people in transforming Dominica’s digital economy.
