Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit says Dominica Has A Strong Tradition Of Free And Fair Elections
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has told a Democracy Summit hosted by U.S President Joe Biden that Dominica has a strong tradition of free and fair elections.
Mr Skerrit and Minister for Foreign Affairs, International Business and Diaspora Relations Dr. Kenneth Darroux attended the virtual Summit from December 9-10. Heads of Government and international and society leaders globally attended the conference.
The Prime Minister delivered a National Intervention Statement, during the Summit, where he spoke of opportunities provided for citizens that encourage educational advancement and access to land ownership.
Skerrit says he welcomes the engagement, referring to it as a signal of recognition that democracy requires constant renewal and protection.
Mr Skerrit says an Electoral Commission is among the measures taken to improve the country’s electoral process. He says the country has a tradition of free and fair elections.
Leaders also discussed the challenges facing democracy globally and within their participating countries.
