Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines Dr. Ralph Gonsalves has expressed disappointment over the recent decision by the European Union (EU) to place Dominica on the so-called blacklist of jurisdictions, considered non-cooperative for tax purposes.
Speaking during the Face-to-Face programme on NBC Radio on Wednesday Gonsalves described the move as insensitive.
“You just have to shake your head. To see how unconscionable it could be in the midst of a COVID-19 pandemic you are dealing with blacklists. The insensitivity is bewildering,” he said.
The EU Council said Dominica was included on the list as it received a ‘partially compliant’ rating from the Global Forum (for Transparency and Exchange of Information) and has not yet resolved this issue.
