Prime Minister condemns harassment of his family following weekend incident outside his Morne Daniel home
Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has called for an end to harassment of his family following reports of an altercation involving police near his Morne Daniel residence over the weekend.
According to reports, police on Saturday took into custody Opposition MP Danny Lugay near Mr. Skerrit’s residence.
Speaking on Anou Palay on Sunday, Mr. Skerrit did not directly name the incident but condemned what, he called, efforts to instill fear in him and his family.
Prime Minister Skerrit argues that he is entitled to certain rights as a citizen, under the constitution of Dominica.
Meantime, Roseau North MP Danny Lugay says he will pursue legal action following the encounter with police over the weekend.
Lugay alleges that he was manhandled and pulled out of a vehicle by a police officer and taken to police headquarters.
The police have not confirmed the incident, but Lugay said he was in the area with Opposition Leader Lennox Linton after attending a funeral together.
