President’s Annual Charities Dinner cancelled
Dominica’s President, His Excellency Charles Saverin, has pushed back the date of his annual charities dinner due to limitations presented by the Coronavirus Pandemic.
The President announced his decision to cancel the 2020 President’s Charities Foundation Fundraising Dinner in a press release on Tuesday.
The Office of the President said due to uncertainty surrounding how long the pandemic could last, as well as a need for social and physical distancing, it was determined that it would be unwise to hold the Charity Dinner.
This is the second time the Dinner has been cancelled, the first being in December 2019, when the Dinner clashed with the date of Dominica’s General Elections.
The President thanked sponsors and patrons of the event, and said attention will be refocused on hosting the dinner next year.
