Portsmouth Prepares to Host Jazz and Creole Festival on A Grand Scale says MP

Parliamentary Representative for the Portsmouth Constituency Ian Douglas says organizers of the annual Jazz and Creole Festival plan to make adjustments to accommodate the growing event.

The 10th edition of Dominica’s Jazz ‘n Creole takes place on Sunday May 5, 2019 at the Fort Shirley in the Cabrits National Park.

Mr. Douglas boasts that Portsmouth is the ideal location for the Jazz and Creole event and officials will move to capitalize on its growth.

“There is a particular spot in The Cabrits- Fort Shirley Area called the Parade ground, which is bigger than the Borough Square in Portsmouth. So we can expand the Jazz Festival to those other areas in Cabrits to accommodate the growing crowds of the patrons who usually come to Jazz Festival, so the issue of location is not necessarily a problem.”

Several fringe events are planned leading up to the main event.

Douglas says Portsmouth is ready for the surge of visitors over the week of festivities.

We have thousands of rooms in the area allows for persons to come down to actually spend the weekend and make a Jazz weekend.”

He also mentioned numerous events to compliment the Jazz and Creole Festivals and boasted of the lovely beaches which allows for good relaxation spot.
