PM on World Read Aloud Day

Dominica Joined the rest of the International Community in observing World Read Aloud Day earlier this week, and Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit joined a number of persons around the region in telling kids that reading is fun!

On a special programme of regional media house Loop Caribbean called “Lit with Loop”, Mr. Skerrit read aloud a book on the aftermath of Hurricane Maria in Dominica in 2017.

The book “Praying for Coconuts”, is written by Dominican –born behavioral therapist Shelly Basil- Lawrence.

It follows a little girl named Neveah who prays for God to bring the coconuts back to her island.

You just heard an excerpt of Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit’s reading for World Read Aloud Day.

He wasn’t the only Dominican who participated in the day’s activities.

Miss Dominica 2001 Kimani St. Jean also featured on Lit with Loop, reading aloud “Lola and the Dancing Ladybugs” by Trinidadian author, Mar Cuffy.
