As the Dominica Social Security (DSS) today celebrates its 45th anniversary, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has stressed the need for the organization to sustain itself.
In an address to commemorate the anniversary, the Prime Minister highlighted a deficit in citizen contributions as compared to DSS benefit payouts.
He believes DSS management must now focus on gaining investment income to fund the institution.
Mr. Skerrit says however, the organization continues to contribute to society despite its income challenges.
Meantime, Mr. Skerrit called on employers and citizen stakeholders to pay Social Security contributions.
