Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit has announced the creation of the role of a constituency administrator to take effect in a new Dominica Labour Party term.
Mr. Skerrit told an endorsement rally for Catherine Daniel in Colihaut on Thursday, that the job of the Administrator will be to assist the Parliamentary Representative with “administrative management” for the constituency.
This person is to ensure that the Parliamentary Representative’s plans and orders are being followed efficiently, and will report directly to the he/she.
He also announced the creation of “Constituency Boards” comprised persons from each village of each constituency. These Boards he says “will serve as advisors to the Parl. Reps [Parliamentary Representatives], who can discuss the programmes, the challenges in this constituency, and come up with plans and programmes to be implemented”.
In addition to these roles, Government will give Ministers of Parliament a budget to be used to assist constituents.
Meantime Parliamentary Representative for the Colihaut Constituency Catherine Daniel told constituents on Thursday night her continuing service is based on a deep love for people.
“…being endorsed for a second term, I do so with humility in an environment of peace and love – Labour love”, Daniel said.
Daniel was endorsed to contest the 2019-2020 polls for a second term, and says love for people is also reflected in the policies of the Dominica Labour Party.
