Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Health Leticia Lestrade Whyke says all recommendations are with the Public Service Commission pending appointments for all nurses.
She said all Ward Aides who were temporarily employed have received their permanent employments and efforts are being made to address the needs of domestic and non-established workers within the Ministry of Health.
Ms. Wyke said discussions were held with voluntary international organizations prior to the previous principal nursing officer leaving where nurses were asked to list their needs in terms of uniforms and assistance was provided for the nurses to return to work
She says allowances were also increased by 100 percent.
PS Wyke said payment for transportation services offered by voluntary agencies for nurses have ended with the ministry of health however the ministry will now absorb the cost for transportation of nurses after late hours.
