Young persons in Dominica are joining over 26 million other youth in some 95 countries around the world on a U Report OECS free and confidential platform to express their views in order to best represent themselves in matters affecting them.
The platform created by the United Nations International Children’s Education Fund UNICEF, is managed by the OECS Commission and engages youth aged 13 to 29 on such issues relevant to them.
Dominica engaged a number of young persons as U Reporting Ambassadors who on a radio program on KairiFM over the weekend expressed their views on how they have been impacted by this program.
Wendy Wallace says the program seeks not only to get information from the young person’s participating but also to equip them with the necessary tools that will enable them to better represent the interests of youth.
Wallace says further that there is a place for other youth who would be interested in becoming U Report ambassadors in Dominica.
She says this would present an opportunity to help mobilize and increase the number of young persons involved in the program.
