NTRC Launches Subsidized Internet Programme for $10 Monthly
Households in need with no broadband service, now have the opportunity to receive internet access through a Subsidized Internet Service Programme.
The National Telecommunications Regulatory Commission launched THE PROGRAMME called Net4all on Monday via Zoom.
Net4all is a local broadband tariff that will allow customers or households the inability to afford internet access at the normal monetary rate.
The aim of this project is to allow students without internet access and families who cannot afford, to access services subsidized by the universal service fund for $10 monthly.
Executive director of NTRC, Craig Nesty says the program is a step in the right direction for Dominica in the area of technology.
Meantime Education Minister, Octavia Alfred says the launch of Net4all is timely since it has been a hassle for some of the families who simply could not afford the normal internet rates.
Alfred also announced that devices have been acquired by the government to be distributed amongst students soon.
