New medical insurance scheme for police officers
Parliament convened on Monday in an emergency session to pass a bill to provide medical insurance for police officers.
The Police Welfare Association had recently raised concerns about the lack of medical insurance for officers.
National Security Minister Rayburn Blackmoore subsequently announced that government had decided to fast track the new insurance scheme.
Prime Minister Skerrit said last week the new amendment will allow for a new company to provide medical insurance for officers and their families.
