NBD denies media speculation of widespread losses from customers’ accounts

The National Bank of Dominica has denied reports that there has been widespread losses on customers account associated with card use.

The company claims that comments made via certain media of widespread losses on customers’ accounts and a date break are false.

On Monday, a radio talk show speculated that customers had lost funds due to suspicious card activity.

In a statement issued Monday night, the bank said through its monitoring process it discovered unusual card transaction attempts. These cards were immediately deactivated as a preemptive measure and customers were contacted.

The statement noted further that with this swift action, the bank was able to curtail the activity of the perpetrators and any speculation that there has been widespread loss is unfounded.

The bank apologized to customers who were impacted by the deactivation of their cards and pledged to continue to safeguard customers and retain trust and confidence.

Customers are advised to contact the bank directly with specific concerns.
