Ministry of Health observing World Tuberculosis Day
The ministry of health is advising persons including TB patients to ensure they wash their hands properly and use hand sanitizer where necessary in an effort to curb the spread of Tuberculosis
Dominica joined the International community in observing world TB day on; Saturday March 24th
Each year, on 24 March, the world marks World TB Day. TB remains the world’s leading infectious killer, being responsible for the deaths of nearly 1.7 million people each year and representing the ninth leading cause of death globally.
The day is an occasion to mobilize political and social commitment for further progress towards eliminating TB as a public health burden.
Dr Portia Meade Thomas is therefore calling on persons who have contracted the disease to identify themselves to their Doctor or district health nurse.
Meantime health educator Joanna Blaize says illegal drug users are among the categories of persons at risks of contracting the disease.
