The Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development has called on parents and guardians of children of school age that they should ensure their children report to their schools on Monday April 9, 2018, the start of the new school term following the Easter break
The Ministry of Education in press release says in the event that a child is unable to attend, the parent should notify the school of the child’s absence and the reason.
The Ministry says further that education officials will conduct checks in cases where students remain absent from school without a reasonable explanation and has refered parents and guardians to the relevant section of the Education Act II of 1997. Section 36 states that, ‘the parents of every child of compulsory school age shall ensure that the child receives an education by regular attendance at a school.’
The Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development also advises parents and guardians of students of the Roseau Primary School that students should now report to their school on Monday April 9, 2018 at 8:30 a.m. and not to the temporary facility at the former Teachers College at Bath Estate.
