Minister For Tourism Welcomes New Loan Facility Available To Small Businesses Launched This Week

Acting Minister for Tourism, International Transport, and Maritime Initiatives, Chekira Lockhart-Hypolite has welcome the new loan facility available to small businesses launched on this week.

On Monday, government made over twenty-seven million dollars available for on-lending to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) at the Dominica Agricultural Industrial & Development (AID) Bank at highly concessionary rates recognizing the challenges faced by MSMEs as a result of the pandemic.

She says, this initiative falls in line with her ministry’s grant program which targets small Agro-processors, manufacturers and creative industries.

According to Lockhart-Hypolite, over eight hundred thousand dollars has been approved for grant support for more than one hundred small businesses through the ministry’s grant program.

She says, the small business unit stands ready to support MSME’s in their applications to ensure these businesses can capitalize on this new credit facility.
