Min for Health, Dr Irving McIntyre assures that we are prepared to handle the Corona Virus
Dominica’s Minister for Health, Wellness and New Health Investment Dr. Irving McIntyre says Government has put in place measures to handle any outbreak of the Coronavirus here.
At a press conference to update citizens on the Ministry’s plans concerning the outbreak, McIntyre said Dominica’s potential risk exists primarily because of the number of Dominican students living in China.
According to McIntyre, the Ministry of Health is in touch with the international community including the World Health Organization (WHO), PAHO Centre for Disease Control and CARPHA in efforts to keep abreast of the situation.
He said a risk calculation by the WHO says the risk is at medium – low for the Caribbean region.
The Minister reported that Dominican students in China have been asked to remain there.
Dr McIntyre has assured Dominicans that students studying in China are safe.
He says key organizations are on top of the situation.
