Melissa Skerrit Foundation & The Prime Minister Support The Lupus Foundation of Dominica

Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit in collaboration with the Melissa Skerrit Foundation has donated 20 thousand East Caribbean dollars to the Lupus Foundation of Dominica.

Lupus is a chronic and complex auto-immune disease that can affect the joints, skin, brain, lungs, kidneys, and blood vessels, causing widespread inflammation and tissue damage in the affected organ.

Dominicans are wearing purple Today World Lupus Day to stand in Solidarity with those suffering from the disease.

Mr Skerrit met with the Lupus Association last evening to hear from them some of their challenges and to address their concerns with the Minister of health.


Meantime, President of the Lupus Foundation Glorine Thomas has reiterated the point that Lupus patients are employable. 

She said that the members of the foundation brought up their issues to the Prime Minister and his wife Melissa Skerrit at a Cocktails and Conversations Mixer on Wednesday.


Vice President of the Lupus Foundtion Shoyea-Graye Grant-Massicotte said that the Prime Minister assured the foundation that work will be done in getting Lupus recognized nationally through Cabinet.
