Local Activists launch campaign to restore Roseau Public Library

The Society for Historic Architectural Preservation and Enhancement (SHAPE) has launched an appeal for the restoration of the Roseau Public Library.

Public Relations officer of Shape, Michael Lee said the matter is now more urgent following two recent fires at the site of the library, damaged due to the passage of Hurricane Maria.

Lee called for the preservation and transformation of the building and the surrounding grounds.

Lee notes the historical significance of the building, adding that SHAPE is open to a partnership with government to source funds for the library’s restoration.

Speaking on Anou Palay last month, Roseau MP Melissa Skerrit said there were plans in place for the restoration of the facility with additional plans for a fully equipped studio at the same site.
