The Juice Man bar, a popular hangout spot located along the Pottersville Highway was gutted by fire on Monday night.
Firefighters responded to a huge blaze at about 7:45 p.m., but by the time the flames were extinguished, not much was left of the wooden structure.
Reporters on the scene spoke to the proprietor, Emmanuel Joseph, popularly known as the “Juice Man”.
Mr. Joseph told reporters that he smelled smoke but thought someone on the nearby beach had started a fire.
When he found out that his bar was on fire, it was too late to salvage anything or to stop the fire.
Mr. Joseph said he now has no place to stay as his house in Pottersville was destroyed by Hurricane Maria.
“I don’t know how I can cope,” Mr. Joseph said.
Speaking to reporters on the scene, Government Minister Joseph Isaac, the Roseau Central Member of Parliament, said Government would support Mr. Joseph during his time of recovery.
