IRC And DOMLEC To Review Electricity Rates Next Month
The Independent Regulatory Commission (IRC) and Dominica Electricity Services Ltd. (DOMLEC) will begin the tariff revision process in April 2022.
Since 2010, the IRC has developed a tariff regime for DOMLEC, by which a tariff review is conducted every three years to ensure DOMLEC meets its revenue needs.
IRC’s Utility Engineer Felix Julien explains why regulation became necessary.
Julien states the job of the regulator is not to raise or lower the price of electricity bills, but to make sure the price is reasonable to customers.
