Housing Minister announces plans to construct factory to manufacture homes for less fortunate
Housing Minister Reginald Austrie has announced plans to construct a factory in Jimmit to manufacture pre-fabricated homes.
Mr. Austrie told a radio programme on Wednesday this is part of ongoing efforts to boost the country’s housing stock and providing dwelling for the country’s less fortunate.
The minister said the DLP government is pleased that almost three years after Hurricane Maria, many of its housing development projects are still ongoing.
According to Austrie, the factory will help speed along housing construction.
Meantime, Mr. Austrie said he was pleased that fewer people are in need of shelters than in the previous year.
Still, he has encouraged the neighborhood approach to shelters during the 2020 hurricane season.
