Health Minister expressed Government’s gratitude to China for donation of medical equipment and supplies

Health Minister Dr. Irving Mc Intyre has expressed Government’s gratitude to friendly governments who are assisting in Dominica’s fight against COVID 19.

Dr. Mc Intyre said Dominica’s friends have provided much needed assistance with personnel and equipment.

On Saturday the Health Minister accepted the first batch of medical equipment and supplies donated by China.

The supplies were provided by the Jack Ma and Alibaba Foundations and include 1,536 PCR test kits and 30,000 surgical masks.

Dr. Mc Intyre said more supplies are expected.

Chinese Ambassador, Lu Kun, said the donation is another demonstration of China’s support for Dominica.

Health Minister Dr. Irving Mc Intyre said on Sunday he had received a quantity of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) for use by frontline workers in the fight against COVID-19.

Fourteen (14) boxes containing 2500 gloves, 1250 masks, 50 N95 masks, 50 goggles, 20 bio-safety bags and 1250 gowns were presented by PAHO local representative Anneke Wilson.

Dr. Mc Intyre said this was the second of two shipments delivered by a Regional Securities System (RSS) Cargo plane on Wednesday.
