Government is advancing plans for the construction of a new public library in Roseau.
This assurance has come from Minister for Education & Human Resource Development Petter Saint-Jean as Dominica joins the rest of the world to observe library week.
“Government recognizes the vital role of libraries to the development of its citizenry, and as such, I wish to inform the nation, have advanced plans for the construction of a safe, modernize and purpose built public library for Roseau with that project being one of the major projects assigned to the Climate Resilient Executing Agency for Dominica (CREAD),” Saint-Jean said.
He says there are also plans to improve other library facilities around the island.
“As, a government, we commit to the rehabilitation of Portsmouth Library with re-established sustainable services; re-organization of the Grand Bay Library; continuation of the archival collection digitization project, enhancement of service provision to support students/research needs through E-platforms and the provision of financial and technical support to enhance library services – through collection development, staff training and specialization,” he said.
