Government looks to youth development to drive resilience

Dominica is focusing on the involvement of youth in economic activity to help build resilience.

Dominica’s Foreign Affairs Minister Francine Baron told a panel discussion of the Caribbean Development Bank on Wednesday in Barbados, Government is taking measures to provide youth more opportunity for progress.

Baron said Government is providing support for small farmers to begin their own enterprises and build livelihood.

Baron spoke at the 49th annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the CDB, during a seminar titled ‘Vulnerability to Resilience.’

She said Government is also exploring skills development with programmes at the Dominica State College to prepare youth for the job market.

she added that sports development is also on the cards to provide young people with further opportunities for development.
