Fisheries Complex to receive $27 Million for Rehabilitation

The Government of Dominica has signed contracts for the execution of the rehabilitation of buildings and equipment at the Roseau and Marigot Fisheries Complexes.

The project will be executed through a grant agreement between the Government and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), totaling approximately EC$27 Million.

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of the Blue & Green Economy, Agriculture and National Food Security, Dr. Kyra Paul, says work should begin by the end of July and is expected to be completed by August 2021.

The project works include rehabilitation of exterior facilities and office space for the Fisheries Division staff in Roseau and water-proofing work of all buildings, market/administrative building, fishermen’s lockers/toilets building, boat repair building, workshop building, wharf and breakwater concrete in Marigot.

Icemaking and cold storage facilities, fish handling/processing equipment, fish quality inspection equipment, workshop equipment, educational equipment, a data processing system, one 2-ton refrigerated truck and one workboat will also be provided to the Roseau complex. Fish containers, platform scale and VHF radio equipment will be contributed to Marigot.
