The recently launched Family Empowerment Movement Inc. (FEM Inc.) says it is deeply concerned about the recent deaths of males in Dominica.
In a press release issued Monday, the Family Empowerment Movement said it is bothered by the enormous stress and distress, and other mental health issues, that these killings and antisocial behaviors are causing the affected families and all other concerned Dominicans.
Chairman of the Family Empowerment Movement, Thomas Holmes spoke to Kairi News about this concern.
He stated that as an organization promoting family wellness, they “want to extend their sympathy to the persons who lost their loved ones and also the families of those who committed the crime.”
Holmes went on that FEM wants to look at the value of family and person, and specifically of those who are challenged and react negatively to the stresses of life.
Though recently established, FEM’s role in society has picked up quickly as the an increase in violence and crime has been realized since the beginning of this year.
FEM says that more emphasis needs to be placed on the education of males, especially boys in the school system, by providing them with more practical skills and diverse learning opportunities.
