Farmers To Utilize Smartphones To Advertise And Sell Produce On App
Dominican farmers will soon breathe a sigh of relief and worry less over the sale of their produce, thanks to the World Bank and the ministry of trade and agriculture.
Farmers will be able to utilize their smartphones to advertise and sell their produce on the regional and international market through a local Agriculture e-commerce app.
Trade Minister Ian Douglas welcomed the move and views this as an advantage for Dominican farmers to advance the sale and marketing of produce through technology.
Speaking on Kairi’s Focus on Government Douglas says, as long as the farmer is able to download the agriculture app to his phone, he will be able to access information which will lead him to different buyers.
Douglas says governments mandate is to deal with every single fresh produce of the farmer.
He says this will be done in collaboration with the Dominica Bureau of Standards so as to ensure farmers meets certain requirements.
