Farmers Told to Be Patient as Tendering Process Could Delay Delivery of Materials Promised Under The PIU
Warehouse manager at DAPEX Oliver St Jean says the Ministry of Agriculture will continue to support farmers through the distribution of material, however like everything else, there will be delays but farmers should not be disheartened as the ministry does its best to ensure materials are received.
He told a special edition of ‘This is Agriculture’ on Kairi FM on Monday, that everything farmers were promised under the project PIU projects has been delivered to them except in cases where some materials were not available.
St John says materials that were delayed will definitely be delivered as soon as they are cleared.
Farmers have been complaining about the length of time it takes for them to receive certain farm materials.
St John says the delay was as a result of setbacks like he Covid 19 Pandemic which resulted in the closure of one of the companies which manufactures chainsaws, However he is calling on farmers to exercise patience.
Mr. St John says while he understands the needs of farmers, it’s important that they also understand the process when requesting material.
He says there is a tendering process that has been done before materials are received.
