Executive Director at the National telecommunication Regulatory Commission Craig Nesty says while he expects a drop in the telecommunications service to customers shortly after hurricane Maria, the service providers here should offer some form of compensation to these affected customers.
The NTRC has received several complaints about the telecommunications service provided by the service providers here where persons say they are unable to download and connect to other numbers on the same or different network among other communication issues.
The NTRC says some of the complaints from the public are legitimate and would need to be addressed by the providers
Nesty was part of a panel on Kairi heng Tuesday morning
Mr. Nesty said the NTRC under the law holds the right to take action against any service provider that does not meet the requirements under the telecommunications act.
This he said is a long process that has to go through the courts
The NTRC says its reason for conducting a mobile survey for Dominica was because of some of the complaints received.
Another survey will be conducted in the next 6 months to gauge the level of service provided the providers here.
