Environmental Health Departments Calls On Construction Workers To Wear Safety Gears While On The Job
The Environmental Health Department is concerned about lack of safety measures at some construction sites on the island
Senior Environmental Health Officer Isabella John says persons employed in the construction industry must ensure that they have and wear the necessary safety gears when doing construction works. She says employees must follow safety guidelines in the interest of their health.
She was speaking on Healthy Environs Healthy People on kairiFM on the heels of an incident which claimed the life of a male contractor when he fell from a building.
Mrs. John says the Occupational Health and Safety Association has noted 4 major areas that threaten the lives of people in the construction industry
According to the senior officer there is a health and safety act which is intended to protect the employee on the job and that act must be implemented.
