Director of telecoms Bennet Thomas says technical assistance in the area of technology could be one of the key areas needed to assist Dominica in getting to the best design stage to deal with disasters.
He told the opening of a two day emergency workshop at the Office of disaster Management in Jimmit organized by the World Food Program in collaboration with the Ministry of information and technology and the Ministry of education that Technical assistance and fundingare other areas that will be looked at.
Thomas is hoping that the Workshop could also look at satellites for the service providers instead of collapsible towers should another major hurricane hit Dominica.
He is therefore calling for actual work on the ground in time for the next season and less of the nice speeches.
He says an action plan should come out of this workshop in better preparing Dominica to handle major storms.
