Election treating matter far from over says Government attorney
This case is far from over!
That’s the word from Government Attorney Senior Council Anthony Astaphan on a recent CCJ decision to dismiss a Dominica Labour Party appeal in a 2015 election treating case in Dominica.
The CCJ upheld the majority ruling of the Court of Appeal and ordered the Chief Magistrate to reinstate the magistrate’s summons for the appellants to appear to answer the charge of election treating.
Astaphan argues that the CCJ judgment dealt solely with the matter of the magistrate’s court. Other substantive matters of the case were not dealt with, he said.
Meantime Astaphan has defended his comments relating to the ability of the Director of Public Prosecution to intervene in the matter.
