DYBT hosts Youth Competition for Third Time

The Dominica Youth Business Trust (DYBT) is launching its Youth Competition for a third year running.

Operations Management System Administrator at the DYBT, Diane Laronde says this is an effort to encourage and foster an entrepreneurial spirit within the youths.

The first competition is a poster competition that will target students 8-11 years under the theme ‘My Business of the Future’ while the second is an essay competition that will target students 12-18 years under the theme ‘A Day in the Life of an Entrepreneur’.

“For the poster competition we advised students to do it in the format for the business for the future. So whatever they think they would like the business to be, put it in the format of a poster. For the essay, its persons that they see in the business world right here in Dominica that they look up to, Nasseifs or Astaphans and write about them in detail.”

She continued that all schools around the island are knowledgeable on the competition and youth officers along with other staff of the DYBT are available to assist students if necessary.

Laronde stated that the previous years were very successful in terms of prizes from different institutions in the form of cash towards savings and or awards. She expects this year to yield the same results as many other institutions were invited to come on board.
