The Dominica Solid Waste Management Corporation (DSWMC) is set to undertake new initiatives to promote a sustainable environment in 2022.
General manager of the DSWMC, Florian Mitchel says despite the challenges faced in 2021, the DSWMC was able to maintain and expand its regular operations to the island. He says, all programs in 2022 will surround a central theme of waste diversion in promotion of a circular economy.
According to Mitchel, the DSWMC realized several projects in 2021 which promoted corporate social responsibility and collective consciousness.
One of the highlight projects included the derelict removal and scrap metal project from late 2020 which saw over six hundred neglected vehicles removed from the island’s roadways.
