The Dominica Solid Waste Management Cooperation is reminding motorists that it is an offence to throw items off their windows while driving
The cooperation says there is a penalty for such action under the litter act of the commonwealth of Dominica
Public Relations officer and general manager of the Landfield Jeno Jacob said persons could get hurt, and accidents could occur when motorists litter while driving.
The cooperation is also concerned about the increase in the rodent populations when persons litter.
Meanwhile Mr Jacob says it’s also an offence for haulers to transport o material such as sand, gravel or cement without having them covered.
He says the coverings help prevent spillage, another cause of vehicular accidents.
