The General Manager of the Dominica Water and Sewerage Company (DOWASCO), Bernard Ettinoffe stressed on the challenges that providing water may bring and therefore water related decisions must be considered in order to meet the needs of all Dominicans.
Ettinoffe spoke on an exhibition put on by the company (DOWASCO) at the Windsor Park today, as recognition of World Water Day. He stated that this exhibition reinforces the commitment made by the United Nations Member States, in adopting the 20/30 agenda for sustainable development, and in recognition of the human right safety for drinking water and sanitation which will help eradicate poverty and build prosperous and peaceful societies.
He pointed out a few challenges that DOWASCO faces in providing water, namely extreme environmental degradation, population growth and unsustainable agricultural practices are among the challenges.
Mr. Etinoffe has applauded the efforts of the Government of Dominica and regional and international donor agencies and partners for helping to build a resilient water system for Dominica.
